Vegas Goes Wild About NASCAR

NASCAR is all over Vegas, and we’ve got the pics to prove it! On Feb. 26, we caught up with cars and their drivers at several hotspots on the Strip.

Superstar NASCAR favorite Kurt Busch signed autographs and schmoozed with fans at Bally’s. Busch has something to crow about, as he “topped qualifying” at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway with a lap of 188.719 m.p.h. Read more.

Kurt Busch’s famed #2 car also made an appearance, outside Bally’s Las Vegas.

Fans met Kurt Busch at the Indigo Lounge at Bally’s, and just outside the lounge was a car from the Richard Petty Driving Experience. The Driving Experience is a way for ordinary humans to get the thrills of pro racing. Learn more about this fun offering at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

No patrons were injured bringing this car into the casino. Thanks for caring.

The fun continued with another autograph session at Harrah’s in Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill. Drivers Jason Keller and David Gilliland won over fans with their broad smiles and racing stories.

Elsewhere at Harrah’s, near the Carnaval Court Bar & Grill, the Crown Royal Ford Fusion show car drew a crowd of onlookers.

Today’s Random NASCAR Factoid

NASCAR fever has hit Las Vegas this weekend, so in honor of the fun unfolding up and down the Strip and at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, here’s a bonus vaguely-NASCAR-themed factoid: “Racecar” is spelled the same forward and backward.

Read more about the special events surrounding NASCAR at our Pulse of Vegas resorts.

Congrats to Vinnie, Penn and Teller

We can never get enough of “Best of…” lists (especially our own). Two of our favorite shows have been listed among the “Top 10 Shows in Las Vegas.” See the list.

This particular list ranks both comedian Vinnie Favorito at Flamingo and Penn & Teller at Rio Las Vegas among the biggest crowd-pleasers in Sin City. Love ‘em!

vinnie_favorito

Vinnie Favorito cops some 'tude. If, you know, anyone's used the term "'tude" since 2001.

Congratulations to Vinnie, Penn and Teller, for continuing to: 1) keep us entertained, 2) push public decency laws to their absolute limits.

penn teller

Yes, you made another "Top 10" list. Never gets old, does it, guys?

Hash House a Go Go: Let the Drooling Begin

Hash House a Go Go at Imperial Palace is, well, hard to describe. Sure, it’s a “restaurant.” But saying Hash House a Go Go is a restaurant is akin to saying the Mona Lisa is a doodle. It just doesn’t do it justice.

Hash House a Go Go is billed as serving “twisted farm food,” and if by “twisted” they mean “spectacular,” they’d be right.

hash house

The hammered pork tenderloin sandwich has made grown men cry.

Renowned for its mammoth portions, Hash House a Go Go serves a number of its offerings on 18-inch plates. That’s a foot-and-a-half of plate. We literally saw some dishes being served with the assistance of backhoes.

hash house

This hernia-inducing dish features butternut squash with vegetables.

But it’s not all about quantity at this relatively-new dining offering on the Las Vegas Strip. Fresh ingredients are an essential part of every dish served up by the friendly staff.

hash house

Speaking of friendly staff, Melissa serves up fresh biscuits the size of basketballs.

The good news: While Hash House a Go Go has built a rep for mouthwatering breakfasts, its offerings go far beyond the famed Farm Scrambles and Farm Benedicts. More good news: The place is open late (to 11:00 p.m. Sun. through Thu., and until 2:00 a.m. on Fri. and Sat.), making it the perfect late-night stop to refuel for your Sin City exploits. Uh, you are planning on having some exploits, right?

hash house

The burgers are testament to the fact that breakfasts are just the beginning!

Hash House a Go Go has been featured in TV shows like “Man vs. Food,” “Rachael Ray’s Vacation,” Martha Stewart and Dr. Phil.

hash house

Even the grilled cheese is over-the-top!

Great food. Great atmosphere. Great values. Looking at these photos, we’re thinking we need to head over to Hash House a Go Go again. You know, for further research.

Three words: Fried. Chicken. Benedict. A jaw-dropper!

Vegas Gears Up for NASCAR

Get it? “Gears up”? It’s a car reference. Now this blog is an expert at: 1) Las Vegas, 2) NASCAR and 3) dumb puns involving NASCAR. That said, Vegas is revved for NASCAR, so read all about it.

There are tons of race-themed events around the city, including several at our famed Pulse of Vegas resorts: Bally’s, Planet Hollywood, Harrah’s and Flamingo.

At Bally’s, there will be show car appearances and autograph signings Feb. 25 (11 a.m. – 3 p.m.), Feb. 26 (2 p.m. – 10 p.m.) and Feb. 27 (11 a.m. – 7 p.m.). The No. 2 Miller Lite show car will be on-site for viewing at the southeast corner of Las Vegas Blvd. and Flamingo Rd. On Feb. 26 (8:15 p.m. – 9:15 p.m.), NASCAR all-star Kurt Busch will sign autographs inside Indigo Lounge at Bally’s.

At Planet Hollywood, on Feb. 26 (7 p.m. – 8 p.m.), NASCAR enthusiasts are invited to the Playing Field Lounge for an autograph signing by racers Tony Raines and Travis Kvapil.

At Harrah’s, the Crown Royal Ford Fusion show car will be available for viewing at Carnaval Court Bar & Grill. (Feb. 25, 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. and Feb 26., 8:30 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.) On Feb. 26 (8 p.m. – 9 p.m.), drivers Jason Keller and David Gilliland will sign autographs at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill.

At Flamingo, the No. 40 Coors Light show car will be available for viewing between Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall & Saloon and the Flamingo (Feb. 27, 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.). NASCAR favorite Robby Gordon will sign autographs outside at Harrah’s Carnaval Court Bar & Grill, and the No. 7 Monster Energy Toyota Camry show car will be on display (Feb. 27, 7 p.m. – 8 p.m.).

And don’t miss the Hauler Parade!

Cleopatra Goes Gossy at Caesars

Singing sensation Matt Goss is coming to Cleopatra’s Barge at Caesars Palace starting Mar. 12, but not before the famed lounge undergoes a bit of a facelift.

On the day of the Matt Goss announcement (Jan. 28), we breached security and brazenly went behind-the-scenes to discover that upgrades were already underway at Cleopatra’s Barge (soon to be called “The Gossy Room at Cleopatra’s Barge”).

Artists add a base coat to an Egyptian figure at Cleopatra's Barge.

Oh, all right, there really wasn’t any security to breach, but let us have our little fantasy, OK?

gossy

Someone's been taking the phrase "painting the town red" a tad literally.

Just yesterday, we went back to the soon-to-be-unveiled Gossy Room and got a glimpse of the overhauled Egyptian statue pictured above.

Gold leaf, baby, as only Vegas can do it!

Cleopatra’s clearly got some new bling, all in anticipation of the debut of Matt Goss at Caesars Palace. Find out more!

Some Year of the Tiger Total Rewards Mojo

Total Rewards is known as the biggest, most perkified (not a real word) casino loyalty program on Earth, and here’s more evidence of its supreme coolness. Now, you can head to a Total Rewards Center and get a commemorative Year of the Tiger Total Rewards Card in honor of the lunar New Year.

Total Rewards Tiger

The "ruling hours" of the tiger are 3-5:00 a.m. Perfect for Vegas!

In the Chinese zodiac, the tiger represents courage, passion and power, and this sign is said to ward off fire, thieves and ghosts.

It should be noted that the motto for the tiger in the Chinese zodiac is “I win.” Not a bad motto when you’re heading to the casino!
