Music legend Barry Manilow was in fine form for his star-studded debut at Paris Las Vegas on Mar. 6.
Here’s a nice article about Barry Manilow’s new show.
The new show at Paris Las Vegas features Barry Manilow’s timeless classics like “Copacabana,” “Mandy” and “Can’t Smile Without You.” You’re humming one of those tunes right now, aren’t you? Admit it.
Find out more about Barry Manilow at Paris, including his Weekly Platinum Experience tickets. Proceeds from these special tickets benefit the Manilow Music Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to putting musical instruments in the hands of middle and high school students. Platinum Experience tickets include front-row seats, a pre-show champagne reception, a meet and greet and photo op with Barry Manilow himself, as well as an autographed show program. Get tickets!
The weather has been so spectacular in Las Vegas, we couldn’t resist stepping outside to get a photo of diners basking in the sunlight so generously provided by Mon Ami Gabi at Paris Las Vegas.
While not on the menu, the sunshine and breezes (as well as the people-watching) are all part of a visit to this popular restaurant at the heart of the action on the Strip.
And if you’re looking for some insider knowledge about the temptations on the menu at Mon Ami Gabi, check out the “French Classics” cooking class being hosted at the restaurant on Apr. 17. These classes sell out quickly, so get moving.
An unexpected power surge at Paris Las Vegas has left some of the show’s theatrical and musical instruments temporarily disabled. Tonight’s performance (Mar. 5) has been postponed to Mar. 6 at 10:00 p.m. All other performances will take place as scheduled.
Ticketholders who would like to obtain an exchange or refund should contact the Paris Théâtre Box Office or, if the tickets were purchased through Ticketmaster, call Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000. Read more on the Paris Las Vegas Facebook page.
Some people say a million bucks doesn’t go as far as it used to. Are they kidding? It’s a million bucks! And it’s all-the-sweeter when you get that million via an oversized check!
That’s what happed to John M. yesterday (Mar. 3) at Paris Las Vegas. He came out on top in the Millionaire Maker video poker tournament and won a cool million. Just another day in Las Vegas.
The Millionaire Maker tournament was the culmination of a series of qualifying tournaments held at Total Rewards destinations across the country. (Total Rewards is the Harrah’s Entertainment loyalty club.) Winners of the qualifying tournaments come to Las Vegas to try their hand at winning the million. John qualified in Reno, but is from Fresno.
The next big Millionaire Maker event is a Tournament of Champions in New Orleans, Oct. 31 to Nov. 3.
Congratulations, John. Don’t spend it all in one place. Unless that place is Vegas, of course.
As plethoras go, a plethora of Vegas news tidbits is truly something your day just won’t be complete without.

Paris Las Vegas will be giving away free Barry Manilow goodies via Twitter, so follow and join in the fun. Time to brush up on that Barry Manilow trivia, folks.
Barry Manilow comes to Paris Las Vegas starting Mar. 5. Find out more.
This video segment from the Jay Leno show is a hoot. Can’t beat the backdrop! It’s the ever-seductive Paris, which some people, apparently, believe is located in, well, London. (You’ll see.)
You’re always welcome in Vegas, Jay, because in Vegas, it’s primetime all the time.
Exciting news for fans of the sultry, the steamy and the provocative—in other words, fans of Harlequin novels and their iconic cover art!
The ”Heart of a Woman: Harlequin Cover Art 1949-2009″ exhibit at Paris Las Vegas has extended its run indefinitely due to popular demand.
The exhibit boasts original cover art from six decades of Harlequin fiction and highlights the changes in views of desire and fantasy, in celebration of Harlequin’s 60th anniversary.
Oh, and did we mention it’s free? The exhibit at Paris is also open 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and is located next to the Paris lobby.
We stopped by the exhibit for some photos, and were pleasantly surprised by the variety (and quantity) of art on display. Harlequin has had an astonishing run, and its covers reflect changes in literature-lovers’ tastes and sensibilities (sometimes subtle, sometimes shocking) throughout the last 60 years.
Enjoy this photo gallery that hopefully whets your whistle for a visit to the exhibit in Vegas.

We’d be lying if we said we personally know what “haute” means. (We’re a Las Vegas blog, not a linguist.)
But that doesn’t stop us from thinking it’s probably a good thing, especially when the Eiffel Tower Restaurant at Paris Las Vegas is named one of ”The Haute Five French Restaurants in Las Vegas.” Read all about it.
Before your next visit to the Eiffel Tower Restaurant, learn more about Table 56. And make sure to pick up the Eiffel Tower Restaurant cookbook.
It’s Random Acts of Kindness Week (Feb. 13-19), so we felt compelled to compile a few stunningly-original suggestions of random acts you might try out in Las Vegas.
1. Share the Mardi Gras beads you catch during the free Show at the Sky extravaganza at Rio. Not everyone has your reflexes, you know.
2. Hold a stranger’s hand if they express having a fear of heights during your Eiffel Tower Experience at Paris.
3. During the VIP meet-and-greet after the Donny & Marie show at Flamingo, sing and dance for THEM.
4. Treat a leprechaun like he’s a really, really tall guy at O’Sheas.
5. At your favorite Vegas buffet, let someone have the last dinner roll in the basket. We’ll make more.
6. Leave a bigger-than-expected tip for one of the Pussycat Dolls Lounge performers at Caesars Palace. Attractive women hardly ever get tips in Vegas!
7. Assist a fellow diner with their meal at Hash House a Go Go at Imperial Palace. Chances are they’ll need assistance from 10-12 people, but you get our drift.
8. Help a Jubilee! showgirl into her costume backstage at Bally’s Las Vegas.
9. Be extra nice to the security guard who takes you into custody backstage at Bally’s Las Vegas.
10. Leave a nice comment on your favorite Las Vegas blog. Ahem.
Just came across this giveaway for a romantic Paris Las Vegas weekend featuring a wedding ceremony, fancy dinner at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant, a sensual spa package, airfare, accommodations and 12 (count ‘em, 12) tickets to see the immortal Barry Manilow. The sweepstakes ends on Feb. 21, so get on it! Enter today.
OK, here it is. The insider tip of the day. It could literally save you hundreds of dollars if you use it correctly (and if you’re really hungry). This is top secret. But this Las Vegas blog doesn’t happen to live by society’s rules.
This insider tip is, conveniently, called the Insider Tip. Literally. The next time you’re at Paris Las Vegas, and ready for a bite to eat, stop by the Concierge Desk first. Ask nicely, and the charming person behind the desk is very likely to give you an “Insider Tip” card that will allow you to lop off 10% from your check at Ah Sin, Les Artistes Steakhouse, Le Village Buffet, Le Provencal or even in-room dining.
Bonus tip! The Insider Tip card also works for a 10% discount at Bally’s Steakhouse, Sterling Brunch or Al Dente.
Hey, you were going to have to eat sometime. Why not do it for 10% less? Have fun, and spend the money you save on something productive. Like some Elvis sideburns or a four-foot-tall daiquiri. Hey, are you into the Vegas experience or not?
Fresh from his record-setting hugfest at Paris Las Vegas, we caught up with Teddy McHuggin (real name: Jeff Ondash) to get the inside scoop on this remarkable stunt on the Las Vegas Strip (Feb. 12-13).
POV Blog: Why did you choose Paris Las Vegas for this record attempt?
McHuggin: I choose Paris because breaking the world marathon 24-hour hugging record on Valentine’s weekend for the American Heart Association could only be done there. By the symbol of love, the Eiffel Tower. It all fit too well. (Note: We did not pay McHuggin to say this. That’s not how we roll.)
POV Blog: What was one of the more memorable moments from the event?
McHuggin: The most memorable part of the record was the huge smile on every person’s face as they got their hug.
POV Blog: Were you in front of Paris for the full 24 hours?
McHuggin: I took a little break about 7:00 a.m. (after 13 hours of hugging!), but yes, the entire 24 hours was spent in front of the Paris.
POV Blog: Did it go more quickly or more slowly than expected?
McHuggin: From 6:00 p.m. on Friday until about 3:00 a.m. it went by quickly, but as it slowed overnight, the fatique started. But then, at about 9:00 a.m., it kicked back up. Everyone seemed to have heard about the record attempt on TV, or they heard about it from people on the Strip, and then it all broke loose and went pretty quickly.
POV Blog: Who were the frat guys helping you with this stunt? They spent hours and hours holding signs and energetically encouraging people to take part.
McHuggin: We had the help of a great group of volunteers from the ATO fraternity at UNLV. We could never have accomplished the record without them!
POV Blog: How did you get involved with the American Heart Association?
McHuggin: February is National Heart Awareness month. Doing the record for “Most Hugs in a 24-Hour Period,” in front of the Eiffel Tower on Valentine’s weekend, could only be done for them. This cause is also near and dear to me as I lost my father at 59 and my brother at 38 to heart disease.
POV Blog: What did your wife think of some of the more risqué hugs?
McHuggin: She married me because she knew there was never going to be a dull moment with me. So, it was just business-as-usual for her.
POV Blog: What was your overall impression of the people you encountered on the Las Vegas Strip?
McHuggin: Overwhelming! Not one unkind word. Everyone was happy, receptive and wanted to be a part of the record. You have the ones that just walked by, but that’s O.K. Someday, they’ll realize we have such a short time to enjoy ourselves and when they do, I’ll hug them.
POV Blog: What’s next for Teddy McHuggin?
McHuggin: I’m planning to re-break both of my current records, but I’m also thinking about a worldwide hug-a-palooza where I just take off and show up and start hugging. I like to say, “A hug a day doesn’t keep the doctor away, but it sures feels good.” But no matter where I go, Vegas will always be number one to me and I can’t wait to come back and do it all over again. (Note: Seriously. We didn’t pay him to say this!)
POV Blog: How much money was raised for the American Heart Association?
McHuggin: About $6,000.
POV Blog: What was the final hug count, and why did you stop there?
McHuggin: The final was 7,777. Hey, it’s Veagas. It had to be all sevens!
Congratulations to McHuggin and his team for yet another “Only in Vegas” moment at Paris Las Vegas.
A 19-year-old grocery bagger from from Osceola, Indiana, Kyle Perry, snagged the title of “Best Bagger Champion” at this year’s National Grocers Association Best Bagger Championship held during the N.G.A.’s convention at Paris Las Vegas.
N.G.A. is a national trade association representing retail and wholesale grocers.
Perry beat out 23 finalists, representing 23 states, to win the emotion-packed competition (presented by ConAgra Foods) on Feb. 11.

Sara Sandstrom, a bagger from Reno, represented Nevada in the competition. We tend to root for folks representing Nevada!
Baggers were rated on speed, bag-building technique and weight distribution between bags. A bagger’s style, attitude and appearance are also factored into the judging.
Bagging is clearly serious business! Perry took home a $10,000 prize and the coveted “Golden Grocery Bag” trophy. Good going, Kyle!
