Sin City Honored With New “Vegas Strip Steak”

Las Vegas is very proud of its meat. In fact, we often show off our meat to friends and loved ones. Sometimes even on trolleys, like at the newly-opened Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris Vegas.

Gordon Ramsay meat trolley

We don't make up the news, we just report it.

Now, Vegas has been paid the ultimate compliment (just go with it) by having a new cut of beef named after it: The Vegas Strip Steak.

The new steak was developed by “a meat scientist, a chef and a university,” at least according to the Vegas Strip Steak’s official site. Yes, steaks have Web sites. Doesn’t everybody?

Here’s the Vegas Strip Steak in action.

Vegas Strip Steak

Thanks to the Vegas Strip Steak people for giving us permission to use this photo, probably.

The official site states, “The Vegas Strip Steak is often compared to the New York Strip Steak. But there can only one New York Strip Steak. So what city should this steak honor? Vegas, of course! It’s a great restaurant town that has earned its culinary reputation more recently. Vegas is a crowd-pleaser and so is this steak!”

For the record, Las Vegas is not only fond of its meat, but also exclamation points, so the Vegas Strip Steak seems a perfect fit for Sin City! Read more.

Apparently, cuts of meat are the intellectual property of whomever “invents” them, so there’s licensing involved in serving the cut in a restaurant. We’ll let you know if they turn up in Vegas. Or, rather, when. That one’s kind of a no-brainer.

PBR Rock Bar Gets Into the Vegas Nightlife Game

PBR Rock Bar & Grill inside The Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood is mounting the mechanical bull of Vegas nightlife and riding it for all it’s worth. Which, this blog realizes, might be the worst metaphor in recorded history. Let’s not allow that to deter us from the matter at hand.

The popular PBR Rock Bar restaurant has already added a DJ booth (the paint was still fresh when we snagged the pic below), and plans are in place to divide the restaurant into two parts as the evening progresses (with a sound-proof wall, so diners won’t be disturbed), providing a mix of laid-back dining and the Vegas nightclub experience.

PBR Rock Bar nightclub

Tip: Tilting your camera makes things seem even cooler.

Additions are still being made to the decor, but the area pictured below will serve as a dance floor for night owls seeking to shake their badonkadonks off, whatever those might actually be.

PBR Rock Bar restaurant

This is where this blog will be exhibiting its mad badonkadonk skilz.

The area is expected to feature high-top furniture for party animals to keep their dogs from barking too much as the night wears on.

The club portion of PBR Rock Bar will even have its own entrance, directly across from the popular Earl of Sandwich restaurant.

PBR Rock Bar

It's a photo of a door! Hey, not everything can be front page news.

Bonus, the more adventurous can still make their way from the dance area to take on PBR Rock Bar’s hydraulic mechanical bull. This would seem an opportune time to share our video of bull-riding maven Karie, who we took no enjoyment in taping, believe us.

Visit the official PBR Rock Bar site, where you’ll find all the latest news as well as a healthy supply of scantily-clad rodeo clowns. We try not to ask.

The Cocktail That’s Also a Vegas Attraction

There are a couple of things this blog highly recommends during a Las Vegas visit. The first involves chatting with an exotic dancer about how college is going.

This blog also recommends enjoying a cocktail at the elegant bar inside the Eiffel Tower Restaurant at Paris Las Vegas, and riding to the top of the Eiffel Tower for a view that will simply knock your g-string off.

You can now do those last two things we mentioned (you’re on your own with the exotic dancer), with a few bucks knocked off in the process.

Paris Las Vegas cocktail

You owe this blog so very, very much.

Here’s the deal. When you visit the Eiffel Tower Restaurant, order the “Top of the Tower” specialty cocktail. In addition to your cocktail, you’ll also get a ticket for a trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower (usually $15.50). The cost for both is $28, which results in a $5.50 savings.

Oh, and did we mention how completely, mind-numbingly awesome this cocktail is? We do leave out important details from time to time. You’ll live.

Here’s the recipe if you’d foolishly like to try making this at home: Sky Vodka (2 oz.), Domaine de Canton (ginger liquor, 1/2 oz.), Ginger Beer (1/2 oz.), Sweet and Sour (1/4 oz.), grated Star Anise and a garnish of an orange slice, candied ginger and mint leaf. Trust us, it’s better when the Eiffel Tower Restaurant bartender makes it.

Top of the Tower cocktail

Don't you make us show another photo of this drink with a red menu as a background.

So, have a sip, then take a 46-story elevator ride to one of the best views in Vegas. Oh, and bring some additional sets of eyes to fully take in that heart-stopping view. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Gordon Ramsay Officially Opens Steakhouse at Paris

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay was in rare form at Paris Las Vegas today as he officially opened his new restaurant, Gordon Ramsay Steak. Yes, we have exclusive photos. Haven’t you learned how this blog rolls by now?

Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris Vegas

Gordon Ramsay didn't disappoint!

Ramsay gave a lively cooking demonstration for members of the media, and expertly navigated a Q&A laced with Ramsayisms we can’t actually report due to Internet obscenity laws, many of which we just made up.

Actually, we found Gordon Ramsay to be as funny and charming as we’d hoped, tossing out good-natured zingers throughout his interactions with journalists and fans.

Gordon Ramsay

Pulse of Vegas blog exclusive: Gordon Ramsay confirmed to us that when he calls someone "Donkey," it's not meant as a compliment.

While Ramsay did a great job of keeping visitors in stitches, it was also clear he’s serious about the business of food.

He also seems to have a soft spot in his heart for Las Vegas, which tends to go over really well with Las Vegas blogs.

You done good, chef!

See more exclusive photos, several of which are actually in focus, of Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris Las Vegas.

Gordon Ramsay

You know how some people have impish grins, but they're not impish? Gordon Ramsay isn't that.

Ramsay said he’ll be in Vegas every couple of weeks as Gordon Ramsay Steak establishes its footing, then expects to directly oversee his “brigade” at least monthly thereafter. He recently purchased a home in California, and quipped, “It’s great to be able to get here in 15 minutes. I have a private jet.” After a beat, he added, “No, I don’t. Seriously? I’m just kidding.”

Gordon Ramsay also took the opportunity to mention that the winner of the 10th season of his popular reality TV show, “Hell’s Kitchen,” will win a head chef position at Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris. The new season premieres June 4. A direct Vegas tie-in on “Hell’s Kitchen”? As if this blog weren’t already a huge fan! Remember when the contestants got a drop-in from Rio headliner’s Penn & Teller back in 2012? Check it out.

Welcome to Las Vegas, Chef Ramsay, and thanks for stirring things up at Paris Las Vegas. Because he’s a chef. See what we did there?

Celebrated Chefs Kick Off Vegas Uncork’d

Some of the culinary world’s most acclaimed chefs served up a bubbly photo op at Caesars Palace on May 10, 2012 to launch Vegas Uncork’d, an annual food and wine event in Sin City.

Could somebody whip us up a sammich? Thanks.

Chef Wolfgang Puck did the honors for the traditional “saber-off” (uncorking a symbolic bottle of champagne with, you know, a saber) at the famous fountains in front of Caesars Palace.

Vegas Uncork'd

It's all fun and games until a famous chef puts an eye out.

Many credit Wolfgang Puck with starting the fine dining restaurant revolution in Las Vegas, one which had led to Vegas becoming a mecca for celebrity chefs from around the world.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Puck’s Spago restaurant at The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace.

Vegas Uncork'd

This blog credits Wolfgang Puck with "letting us get all up in his grill for a close-up."

Vegas Uncork’d was first held in 2007, bringing together culinary superstars for a “celebration of wine, food and spirits.”

Visit the official Vegas Uncork’d site for all the details.

Bobby Flay Vegas Uncork'd

Chef Bobby Flay currently has 124 shows on the Food Network. Roughly.

The launch event included appearances by so many big-time chefs, it was difficult to keep track of them all.

They included Bobby Flay (Mesa Grill at Caesars), Hubert Keller (Fleur de Lys at Mandalay Bay), “Nobu” Matsuhisa (below, Nobu Las Vegas) and Rick Moonen (RM Seafood, Mandalay Bay).

Nobu at Vegas Uncork'd

Chef "Nobu" Matsuhisa is about to get his own hotel and restaurant within Caesars Palace. It's complicated.

Because there were too many great chefs to fit into once sentence, here are more: Francois Payard (Payard Patisserie & Bistro at Caesars), Jean Joho (Eiffel Tower Restaurant at Paris Vegas), Michel Richard (Central at Caesars Palace), Guy Savoy (Restaurant Guy Savoy at Caesars), Jean-Georges Vongerichten (Prime Steakhouse, Bellagio), Bradley Ogden (Bradley Ogden at Caesars) and many others.

French invasion in Vegas: Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Michel Richard, Jean Joho and Guy Savoy.

Vegas Uncork’d is presented by Bon Appetit magazine and the event is sponsored by the Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, Caesars Palace and the Cosmo.

Vegas Uncork'd

Wolfgang Puck's lucky there were no cameras present to record this mishap.

All-in-all, Vegas Uncork’d will feature about 50 world-class chefs, 60 restaurants and 30 events (through May 13). Don’t miss this rare opportunity to rub elbows with a pantheon of culinary greats. Only in Vegas, baby!

Here’s a virtual sample platter of exclusive photos from the Vegas Uncork’d kick-off event at Caesars Palace.

Old Homestead Serves Up the Perfect Vegas Meal

There are a lot of restaurants in Las Vegas. Sometimes, if you’re coming for a short visit, it can almost feel like too many. Well, this blog is going to make it easy for you, because we have discovered what we can confidently say is the perfect Las Vegas meal, courtesy of Old Homestead Steakhouse at Caesars Palace.

So, here’s our breakdown, course by course, of what was perhaps our best meal in Vegas, ever. First course, a cocktail. Yes, “course.” This is a Las Vegas blog.

Old Homestead Steakhouse Lemon Drop

Many great culinary journeys have begun with the imbibing of a Lemon Drop Martini.

Of course, one does not live by liquid alone, so it’s time for some old-school steakhouse bread.

Old Homestead Steakhouse bread

It's all delicious, but trust us, you'll want to pace yourself.

Next up, appetizers. There’s a wide selection, including Oysters Rockefeller, Maine Lobster Bisque, Steak Tartare, Calamari, Thick Cut Applewood Smoked Bacon. They all sounded good, but we got the Kobe Meatball ($20) and were so glad we did.

Old Homestead Steakhouse Kobe Meatball

The mind boggles. We're definitely boggled.

There’s an argument to be made that the bowling ball-sized Kobe Meatball is a meal unto itself, but what fun would that be? Suffice to say, this may very well be the best meatball in the contiguous United States.

The next course in our perfect Vegas meal: The Kitchen Sink Salad ($18). It’s a masterful mishmash of shrimp, salami, bacon, avocado, tomato, hearts of palm, blue cheese and champagne vinaigrette.

Old Homestead House Kitchen Sink Salad

No actual sinks were used in the preparation of this great salad.

Granted, at this stage of the perfect dinner, you’re already feeling your maximum capacity approaching. Remember, this is Las Vegas. Go big or go home.

Time for the succulent centerpiece of the meal, the Petite Filet Mignon ($52). Seasoned and prepared to perfection, there’s a chance the steaks at Old Homestead will alter the course of your life forever.

Old Homestead Steakhouse filet mignon

Granted, this might not be the perfect vegetarian meal. But that doesn't make it any less perfect.

There’s a long story behind the meat served at Old Homestead Steakhouse. Something about it being dry-aged at least 30 days, and how it comes from a specialty butcher on the East Coast, but honestly, we weren’t paying all that much attention because we were busy having a religious experience involving our side dish, the Potato Gnocchi with Truffle Butter ($13).

Old Homestead Steakhouse gnocchi

Hand-rolled, every day. Our mouth has already sent us flowers and four thank-you notes.

Again, the mouth-watering gnocchi side could be the perfect Vegas meal all on its own, but there’s no stopping now. It’s time for dessert. Which we probably should have pluralized. The first dessert we tried, the creme brulee ($13) was great.

Old Homestead Steakhouse creme brulee

You're awesome, creme brulee, but you're about to get upstaged. Sorry.

Our perfect Vegas meal, however, features another offering: The Cast Iron Baked Chocolate Chip Cookie ($13), with house-made vanilla bean ice cream and whipped cream. If you can look at this and not drool, there’s a chance you’re a cyborg.

Old Homestead Steakhouse cast iron baked cookie

We're looking into whether marriage between blogs and desserts is legal in the state of Nevada.

Guaranteed: You’ll fantasize about this dessert long after you leave Old Homestead Steakhouse.

No perfect meal, of course, would be complete without incredible service. In the case of our visit, that was provided by the charming, knowledgeable (and patient) Charles.

Old Homestead Steakhouse waiter

Charles: Perfection purveyance, personified.

There you have it.

If you can only have one meal in Las Vegas, this should be it. And trust us, if you ever have this one, you may feel like it’s the only meal you’ll ever have room for. Simply spectacular.

First Look: Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris Vegas

While the much-anticipated Gordon Ramsay Steak restaurant officially opens May 11, 2012, we couldn’t wait, so we breached security for a sneak preview of this photogenic new eatery at Paris Las Vegas.

Gordon Ramsay Steak

You can't miss it. Just ask Dr. Freud for directions.

The restaurant can be found next to the casino’s high limit salon.

The eye-catching entrance to Gordon Ramsay Steak was inspired by The Chunnel, the tunnel between London and Paris. It’s slightly smaller than the Chunnel, we think, but we didn’t have a tape measure.

Gordon Ramsay Steak

The Chunnel took six years to build. Gordon Ramsay Steak took about six months. Note: This tunnel doesn't require a ticket.

Chef Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant, his first in Las Vegas, was designed by EDG Interior Architecture + Design, and trust us, we wouldn’t be mentioning that fact if they hadn’t done an impressive job.

Gordon Ramsay Steak bar

The bar has a cool vibe this blog hopes to experience often.

A centerpiece of the interior is the abstract sculpture high above (see below). The neon tubes hanging from the ceiling represent Gordon Ramsay’s hand movements while preparing his signature Beef Wellington, according to one server. The art piece was created by Andrey Berezowsky of SWON Design.

Gordon Ramsay Steak sculpture

Chef Ramsay clearly has very fast hands.

The restaurant seats about 200 people, and features a two-story dining room and, of course, a chef’s table. The restaurant covers about 7,500 square feet, if you’re into the numbers thing.

The tunnel-themed bar separates the main restaurant from the lounge, which will have its own menu with smaller plates. It’s like two destinations in one.

Gordon Ramsay Steak

Gordon Ramsay brings it.

Signature cocktails abound, colorfully displayed in iPads. Their names include the English Garden, Vesper, Extra Dry Steakhouse Martini, HK Antioxident (HK stands for “Hell’s Kitchen,” Chef Ramsay’s hit reality series we’re completely addicted to), South Side, Red Lion, Side Car, Primm’s Cup and the Strawberry Martini.

Gordon Ramsay Steak

This blog likes its cocktails as interactive as possible.

The menu is overseen by Executive Chef Kevin Hee, and showcases Chef Ramsay’s take on traditional American steakhouse dishes. The menu will change seasonally, so guests will always have something new to look forward to. Something we hadn’t heard before: At the beginning of each seasonal menu, the first 1,000 guests will receive an autographed item from Chef Ramsay. We can’t remember if it’s a photo or a menu. We were too busy drooling over our amazing mac and cheese.

Gordon Ramsay Steak

Vegas has a new contender for "Best Mac and Cheese."

Starters include butter-poached Maine lobster, fried oysters and smoked beef tartare with Guinness-infused mustard seeds. Entrees include a wide selection of grilled items, such as Wagyu beef, various cuts of dry-aged steaks, veal, a Kurobuta double pork chop and seafood choices. See? We take notes sometimes.

The meat at Gordon Ramsay Steak is aged 28 days in a “Himalayan sea salt environment,” whatever that might actually be. The restaurant is so proud of its meat, cuts are actually displayed throughout the dining area on a trolley. We’re not entirely sure how to feel about the meat trolley, personally, but the steak aficionados seemed to love it.

Let’s just say that if you don’t love the Wagyu American Kobe filet, you’ve lost your marbles. (See what we did there? Because steaks have marbling. So, it’s a pun. And puns are hilarious.)

Gordon Ramsay Steak

Fancy beef ain't cheap, but you get what you pay for, baby. Sheer succulence.

A server mentioned Chef Ramsay’s favorite cut of meat is the “rib cap.” In case you’re ever asked that on a game show someday.

The desserts are plentiful, too, of course. Every meal in Sin City requires a happy ending.

Gordon Ramsay Steak tropical

That crispy thing on the Tropical Coconut Panna Cotta dessert is called a "sugar tuile." We always wondered about that.

Make sure to take advantage of discounted prices for Total Rewards loyalty club members.

Gordon Ramsay Steak will be ready for its Vegas debut on May 11. Drop in for the celebrity chef experience at Paris Las Vegas.

Today’s Thing We Wish We Had Our Mouth On

Here’s a little something to perk up your salivary glands.

It’s the Raspberry Napoleon at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant at Paris Las Vegas.

Eiffel Tower Restaurant dessert

So many things for your tongue to fall in love with.

One of this blog’s favorite people, Eiffel Tower Restaurant manager Lyle Tolhurst, says this scrumptious dessert is served with “blancmange,” which is not as we first suspected, thankfully, a canine skin condition.

Rather, it’s a sweet dessert made with milk or cream and sugar thickened with gelatin, cornstarch or Irish moss. This definition of blancmange is much more appealing than we originally thought, even if there’s the possibility of moss being involved. Read more.

Bonus Eiffel Tower Restaurant fact: As if the Eiffel Tower Restaurant weren’t already romantic enough, it now does weddings. Couples can say “I do” while enjoying what is possibly the best view of the Las Vegas Strip ever. Here’s a .pdf thingy with more information about weddings at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant.

Tell Lyle we sent you, but feel free to not mention our blancmange joke, thanks.

Today’s Thing We Wish We Had Our Mouth On

They’re like a swift kick to the groin. But, you know, in a good way.

The Bloody Marys at Mon Ami Gabi restaurant at Paris Las Vegas are infamously fabulous.

Mon Ami Gabi Bloody Mary

If you haven't tried one, you might be doing Vegas wrong.

Mon Ami Gabi is so serious about Bloody Marys, in fact, they even have the only Bloody Mary Bar we know of on the Las Vegas Strip.

Mon Ami Gabi Bloody Mary Bar

Told you they're serious.

Mon Ami Gabi, by the way, translates as “My friend talks a lot.” Or, alternatively, we just made that up. We are a Las Vegas blog, not a Francophile. Whatever that might be.

Great drinks, photogenic food and some of the best people-watching in town.

What’s not to love about Mon Ami Gabi at Paris?

Today’s Random Las Vegas Photo: Trevi

Here’s today’s random photo of Las Vegas. Recognize this spot?

Forum Shops Trevi Restaurant statue

It's not a contest. The answer is below.

This shot was taken at the fountain next to Trevi restaurant in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace.

“Trevi,” by the way, means “three ways,” which seems oddly appropriate for Sin City, if you know what we’re saying. However, “Trevi” in this case refers to the fountain the restaurant was named after, which was built in Rome at the intersection of three streets.

The fountain outside Trevi restaurant isn’t a replica of the Trevi fountain, by the way. It’s the Fountain of the Gods. The Trevi fountain replica can be seen outside the Forum Shops on its east-facing, or Las Vegas Boulevard side (see below).

Trevi fountain Caesars Palace

If you can't find a statue to love at Caesars Palace, you've lost your marbles. Or, technically, marble.

What’s the best thing about Trevi restaurant according to this blog? The gelato stand right outside. Simply not optional during a Vegas visit. Trust us, your uvula will thank you. Or something.

Today’s Thing We Wish We Had Our Mouth On

We’re writing this blog post at 10:00 a.m., and in Las Vegas, that means it’s time to start thinking about our next cocktail!

Today, we vote for the Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum Toasted Colada at Cabo Wabo Cantina in The Miracle Mile at Planet Hollywood. (Say that five times fast.)

Sammy's Beach Bar Rum Toasted Colada

Please note: The phrase "lick the rim" is not inherently inappropriate. That's all on you.

Hey, we even took notes about the ingredients this time.

The Toasted Colada contains two ounces of Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum, one ounce of Coco Lopez and some pineapple juice. Even we can memorize that recipe. Just mix up all that flavorful goodness, dip the glass in honey and toasted coconut and you’re all set.

You could probably make one at home, but why would you do that when you could head to Cabo Wabo, put your feet up, people-watch, enjoy some tunes and soak in the gloriousness that is the Las Vegas Strip?

Oh, and that “put your feet up” thing was just a figure of speech. People are trying to eat.

Today’s Las Vegas Oxymoron

Check out this sign at Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall & Saloon.

Bill's Steakhouse

Let's ponder this for a moment, shall we? (Hint: Yes, we shall.)

So, this blog’s thinking, isn’t it highly unlikely the “best-kept secret” in Las Vegas also appears on a giant sign on Flamingo Boulevard?

Then we went into the place and took the photo below. Now, we’re thinking that sign might not be quite as oxymoronic as we believed it to be.

Bill's Steakhouse

Old-school Vegas, baby, secret or not.

So, now Bill’s Steakhouse is definitely not a secret. Sorry about having to change out that sign, guys.

Find out more about this classic Vegas steakhouse.

Paris Vegas Arch Gets Gordon Ramsay Treatment

The two-thirds scale Arc de Triomphe at Paris Las Vegas has a new look.

The much-photographed arch is now draped in larger-than-life, semitransparent banners touting celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay’s soon-to-open restaurant at Paris, Gordon Ramsay Steak.

Gordon Ramsay Paris Las Vegas

As if Gordon Ramsay weren't imposing enough, even without being 70 feet tall.

Click here to see a larger image.

Gordon Ramsay Steak is slated to open May 11, 2012 in the space formerly occupied by Les Artistes Steakhouse, adjacent to the casino’s high limit room.

This is the first restaurant Chef Ramsay, star of “Hell’s Kitchen” and “Kitchen Nightmares,” has opened in Las Vegas. The two-story restaurant will boast a chef’s table, private dining rooms, a bar and lounge, and will seat 200 people.

This blog loves it some Vegas newness, especially when it involves saucy language (besides cooking, Chef Ramsay’s other area of expertise) and scrumptious food. Be sure to add Gordon Ramsay Steak to your list of “New Things to Do in Las Vegas.”

You are keeping a list, right?

Carlos’n Charlie’s Las Vegas Opens at Flamingo

The new Carlos’n Charlie’s restaurant has officially opened its doors at Flamingo Las Vegas, to much fanfare. Which is oddly appropriate, because this blog is already a “fan” of its “fare.” And just about everything else at this lively, liquor-fueled, tongue-in-cheek dining experience.

Why do we call it an experience? The best analogy we can think of is that Carlos’n Charlie’s is like being on a cruise ship, but without the need for Dramamine.

This is the inside, but the weather's also perfect for the outside.

Like we’re not going to show you the outside.

Carlos'n Charlie's

Our new casa away from casa.

Carlos’n Charlie’s has more than a few surprises in store. Among them, the impressive girth of its beverages.

Behold the “Big Mama,” below ($28, or $26.50 for Total Rewards loyalty program members). This cup holds 28 ounces of liquid, but because of a removable inner chamber, could ultimately be used for drinks with 138 ounces. Fingers crossed.

Carlos'n Charlie's restaurant Flamingo

It's a little like Tom Cruise filming a scene with Shaquille O'Neal. Or something.

Signature drinks have names like Dumb Bet, Strawberry Squash, Caipirinha, Sunset in Las Vegas and the one in the goblet above, Crazy Bastard on the Strip. We are not making this up. We have to say, the strawberry margarita was up there with the best in Las Vegas. And we have a fairly large sample size to compare it to. Ahem.

Highly recommended appetizer: The chicken quesadilla. This one pretty much rules as the best we’ve had in Sin City, ever. Quesadilla, by the way, is Spanish for “mind, meet blown.”

Carlos'n Charlie's restaurant Flamingo

Congrats. You just met your new favorite appetizer. You're welcome.

Another surprise? Spoiler alert: If you order ketchup, you’re going to get an ample supply. In our case, we were just thinking about asking for ketchup to accompany our Parmesan & Swiss Chicken (below). Carlos’n Charlie’s, apparently, is staffed by ketchup psychics.

Carlos'n Charlie's restaurant Flamingo

Leave your pretentious, other you at the door.

It’s hard to explain, but every waiter and waitress converges on your table with ketchup. You’ll have to see it for yourself, hilarity-wise.

Oh, and there’s also a ketchup ambassador. (Probably not his official title.)

Carlos'n Charlie's Las Vegas

Don't panic. It wasn't weird. Just let Carlos'n Charlie's do its thing. Trust us.

Also, surprisingly not weird, were the spontaneous outbursts of dancing at Carlos’n Charlie’s. We usually hate that kind of thing. But the staff’s having such a blast, you almost can’t help but take part. Almost. We had other things demanding our attention. Which leads us to…

One of the happier surprises involves the restaurant’s desserts. Just brace yourself. Objects photographed are much, much larger than they appear.

Carlos'n Charlie's dessert

You won't have room, but you also won't be able to resist. These are the kinds of conundra for which this blog lives.

We took extensive notes about the desserts at Carlos’n Charlie’s. Unfortunately, looking at those notes today, they appear to have been written while inside a tumble dryer. Oh, well, let’s just say our favorite was the brownie thing, above.

See more goodness in our photo gallery. There was something with bananas. Something with chocolate. Something creamy. And pretty much everything had ice cream. And was scrumptious to the point of nearly forcing us to use the letters “OMG,” despite the fact this blog is not a 14-year-old girl.

Carlos'n Charlie's dessert

Granted, not every "dessert" has chocolate in it.

Enjoy our exclusive photo gallery of some of the offerings at Carlos’n Charlie’s at Flamingo Las Vegas, and get in line! It’s going to be a wild ride, and one you won’t want to miss.
