Gordon Ramsay Keeps the Surprises Coming at BurGR

Celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsay has another culinary hit on his hands with BurGR at Planet Hollywood, and the restaurant recently introduced new menu items to heat things up yet again.

BurGR (it’s written that way as a nod to the chef’s initials) has been winning over customers with its burgers boasting a unique blend of three beef cuts: short rib, brisket and chuck. The new offerings give diners some additional non-beef options.

First up is the Southern Yardbird Burger, with a chicken burger, sharp cheddar and mustard barbeque sauce, topped with a pickle and butter lettuce.

BurGR

We're thinking some sort of wash is used so the seeds adhere to the gorgeous buns, but what do we know? We are a blog.

Next is the Fish & Crisp sandwich, with ale-battered cod, salt and vinegar crisps and fresh dill tartar sauce.

Which, we’ve just confirmed, is impossible to read without salivating.

BurGR fish

"Crisps" are like fries, only Britisher. Which we acknowledge may not be a word.

The sandwich we couldn’t help but try was the new Damnation Chicken Burger.

This flavorful enticement includes fiery hot mayo and Maytag blue cheese, with a celery and carrot slaw. As the Damnation Chicken Burger implies, this one has a kick.

BurGR

Insider tip: Order a shake to help douse the flames.

Chef Ramsay appears to have also read this blog’s mind by concocting a new shake to go along with the new burgers.

The shake has two layers, with an indulgent Oreo shake sitting beneath a generous portion of crème brûlée pudding. Some customers mix the layers, others use their over-sized straw to start at the bottom (the Oreo shake part) and work their way up.

BurGR

A sweet, succulent stratification! A phrase this blog is trademarking immediately.

We bet the burgers at BurGR are unlike any you’ve ever had. If we lose that bet, we’ll gladly have another Oreo and pudding shake on your behalf. We’re self-sacrificing like that.

Inside the Kitchen at Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill

Our friends at Vegas Player magazine breached security (unless we just made that up) and went into the kitchen at the new Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill at Caesars Palace to capture an interview with Executive Chef Jeremy Berlin, who oversees the kitchen at this traditional English pub.

Chef Berlin

Executive Chef Jeremy Berlin is a great person to invite to pot luck dinners. We're just saying.

Here’s an inside peek at Chef Berlin as he prepares one of the restaurant’s signature dishes, Sauteed Scottish Salmon with Butter-Braised Cabbage.

Chef, you had us at “rendered bacon fat.”

It’s not many eateries that have three menus. At Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill, there’s one for lunch, a pub menu and grill menu.

Fish

If one were trying to get this blog to eat cabbage, butter-braising it would be a great way.

And don’t even get us started about the nearly 40 beers on tap and more than 60 bottled versions.

beer

OK, get us started.

See more food and drink here.

Chef Berlin was recently featured in Vegas Seven magazine, so take a look, and stop by Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill when you’re at Caesars Palace.

15 Things We’re Loving at Harrah’s Vegas Right Now

We’ve decided we don’t visit Harrah’s Las Vegas enough. Why? Because there’s so much to love! Here are 15 things this blog is loving about Harrah’s right this very minute.

1. This Shirt

Who wouldn’t want to stroll down The Strip with a little Hugh Hefner vibe going on? Get this long-sleeve tee in the gift shop at Harrah’s.

Robe shirt

Waxing not included.

2. Pool Season

It can never arrive too soon, or stay too long.

Harrah's pool

Insider tip: Go up the stairs on this end of the pool for some sweet rooftop tanning action.

3. Poolside Mimosas

Speaking of the pool, don’t miss the eye-opening mimosas at the pool’s bar. There’s a deal going on at the moment, but we can’t remember what it is, for obvious reasons.

Mimosa

Champagne glasses are for babies.

4. Cheap Keno

Looking for a great value in the casino? Check out the keno “Stimulus” deal below. You get to play 100 keno games for a nickel each, for a total of $5. “Catch-all” means you have to hit 100% of the numbers you select. Tough, but not impossible. And did we mention your total investment is $5?

Insider tip: You can buy-in for 1,000 keno games at once at Harrah’s. Do it as you’re heading back home, and check to see if you’ve won online at KenoUSA.com. Yay, technology.

Keno

See all the stimulus jokes we're not making? Maturity is this blog's calling card.

5. Brandi

What we meant to say is we’re loving Numb, where Brandi works as a bartender. Unlike many of its slushy drink bar competitors, Numb is a full bar, with a number of delicious signature cocktails.

Brandi

Thanks for playing along, Brandi.

6. 500-Degree Plates

After trying Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, it’s going to be weird going back to a regular steakhouse. That’s because Ruth’s Chris serves its amazing meat on plates baked to 500 degrees. That means your steak is sizzling when it arrives, and that makes a great steak incredible.

500 degress plate

"Would you like a side of aloe with that?"

7. The Purple Strap-On

Hey, that’s not our name for it! The Purple Strap-On is sold at everyone’s favorite place to party mid-Strip, Carnaval Court. You get the equivalent of 8-10 cocktails (see below for scale), which would normally cost $100 or more, for $40.

Bonus: You get to hang out with a Vegas legend, Brian Thomas. He formerly did a stint as Lucky the leprechaun at the now-closed O’Sheas casino, and was recently featured on “Counting Cars,” the reality show on the History channel.

Lucky

Two of our favorite things in Las Vegas.

8. French Kiss Oysters

Oyster Bar at Harrah’s has some die-hard fans! Here’s a little tip: Before you visit, download the Oysterpedia app. You’ll need it to keep up with all the varieties of oysters at this popular Harrah’s hot spot. We used the free app to learn French Kiss oysters come from Neguac, New Brunswick, Canada and have a flavor profile that’s “high in salinity, with a sweet finish.”

French Kiss oysters

French Kiss oysters, like many Las Vegas performers, have "deep cups." Hey, it says so in the app!

9. Jerry Lee Lewis

So, in an ensemble show like Million Dollar Quartet, you’re not supposed to play favorites. Everyone is equally awesome and contributes to the overall blah, blah, blah. Seriously, though, Martin Kaye, who plays Jerry Lee Lewis in the hotel’s new musical, steals the show and will blow you away with his unbelievable talent, musical and otherwise. We promise.

Martin Kaye

Martin Kaye, one of the many talented performers in "Million Dollar Quartet." Happy now?

10. The Dessert Station at Flavors Buffet

Flavors Buffet doesn’t get a lot of glory, but it’s dependably good, especially the desserts. When you think you’re done tasting everything, there’s another dozen or so offerings beyond that, and the temptations never seem to end. Our tip: Start your Flavors Buffet visit with dessert. Rules, schmules. It’s Vegas.

Tart

Tell the tarts at Harrah's we sent you.

11. This Bank of Slots

We love to play slots, but the machines below hold a special place in this blog’s heart.

Slot machines

Can you tell what makes them special?

Why do we love them, despite the fact we’ve never played them? Because they’re aspirational! See, on these machines, you have a choice to make your “coins” worth $100 or $500. And it’s two coins a spin. That means if you see someone playing them, they could be betting $1,000 per spin. Hey, in Vegas, it’s go big or go home!

Slot machine

They don't call them "high limit" slots for nothing.

12. Craps With Fresh Air and Sunlight

Hey, we love a casino with a little smoke for atmosphere as much as the next blog, but at Harrah’s Las Vegas, the craps table is close to a wide open door (facing Carnaval Court and The Quad), so you get fresh air and real sunlight.

Fresh air craps

The ideal mix of inside and out.

13. IcePan

This one’s never leaving our list of things we love at Harrah’s, ever. Made from scratch, this low-cal, no-additives ice cream can alter your state of being and magically transport you to your happy place.

Strawberry Cheesecake

The Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream is made from both actual strawberries and actual cheesecake.

14. KGB Burgers

It seems like KGB: Kerry’s Gourmet Burgers adds new menu items almost hourly, which makes it worthy of frequent visits. Below, some kind of heavenly concoction of sauteed mushrooms and Swiss cheese and a fabulous set of buns.

KGB

Watch for monthly specials that pair burgers and KGB's signature shakes.

15. This

Stop by the Higuchi Gallery shop at Harrah’s for this monster. Hey, we did say “go big or go home,” right?

Giant flask

That oughta hold you.

We feel like we’re just getting started! Now, stop daydreaming and get back to work. Or, alternatively, “Come to Las Vegas. The official opposite of work.” TM

Royal India Bistro Spices Up Rio Las Vegas

Royal India Bistro is the newest culinary offering at Rio Las Vegas, and serves up some seriously authentic Indian dishes you won’t soon forget.

Royal India Bistro

Let the salivating begin.

Royal India Bistro replaces the former Gaylord India restaurant, in the same location at Rio Vegas.

The interior of the restaurant is newly-redesigned, brighter and with charming decor flourishes reflecting Indian culture.

Royal India Bistro

We'll get to the food. We're trying to set the mood.

We love the new look of the place.

Royal India

Fancy, but not too fancy.

Authenticity and freshness appear to be the top priorities at Royal India Bistro. Restaurant manager Phulpreet Singh (“Phul” for short, pronounced “full,” which will become increasingly relevant as your meal progresses), says, “We have focused on north Indian cuisine, centered around the Punjab region of India.”

Every dish at Royal India Bistro is a cultural adventure all its own, drawing upon the experiences of the restaurant’s staff and time-honored food preparation techniques. See the menu.

“One of the unique aspects of our restaurant is our use of clay ovens,” says Singh. “Our naan and other breads are baked fresh, on-site. It’s very hot, more than 450 degrees. Our bread is made-to-order.”

Royal India

The naan dough is stuck to the wall of the super hot ovens for baking. Heaven in the making.

Honestly, this blog would be perfectly happy with a meal of Royal India’s naan alone. It’s otherwordly.

“We make a traditional naan bread from northern India, with garlic and papadum (smashed, sun-dried garbanzo beans),” says Singh.

Royal India

It is difficult to overstate this blog's affection for the naan.

Oh, all right. Take-backs on the “naan only” thing. The restaurant’s Chicken Tikki Masala, easily its most popular menu item, is perhaps the best we’ve had in Las Vegas.

We watched as our Chicken Tikki Masala was prepared, and every dish has a dizzying number of ingredients, each more colorful, and tasty, than the last. The chefs at Royal India Bistro are as much alchemists and chefs.

Royal India

Slogan: "So good, your face will bribe you to return."

Meat used in the various dishes is prepared on skewers, placed in the aforementioned clay ovens. A great way to sample the restaurant’s flavorful meats is The Sizzler with lamb chops, Tandoori chicken, Seekh kabobs, garlic chicken and chicken tikka kabobs. It’s a monster, so bring a friend!

Royal India

It's called The Sizzler because it comes out sizzling. Please try and keep up.

Vegetarians will be happy to find a healthy selection (see what we did there?) of specialty dishes, such as the Navratan Karma (below), with vegetables and farmers cheese and nuts, cooked in a cream sauce. We loved it, and we are not even a vegetables person.

Royal India

Good Karma.

The restaurant offers a buffet lunch, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., that’s well worth a look.

Royal India

The buffet area, replete with awesome.

Of course, one does not live by naan alone! Probably.

The restaurant’s intimate bar has a Happy Hour, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., featuring lots of cocktails with “ini” at the end, such as the Mangotini (picture below), Appletini and Hibiscus Martini.

Royal India

We have no idea if the Mangotini is a traditional Indian cocktail, but by the time you're done, you won't care.

Check out the full menu on the Royal India Bistro site, or find out more on the official Rio Las Vegas site.

Royal India

Yes, you can dine at the bar. We know how you are sometimes.

Enjoy more photographic goodness from our visit to Royal India Bistro, a delicious diversion just 2.6 minutes off the Las Vegas Strip.

Six Amusing Things at Carlos’n Charlie’s Restaurant

Come for the party, stay for the laughs. Carlos’n Charlie’s restaurant at Flamingo Las Vegas has the best sense of humor of any restaurant on the Las Vegas Strip, and we’ve got photographic proof.

Carlos'n Charlie's

Just to set the tone.

Obviously, we’re not dealing with your run-of-the-mill Las Vegas restaurant here.

Carlos'n Charlie's

Carlos'n Charlie's keeps its tongue planted firmly in its cheek.

When you enter Carlos’n Charlie’s, it’s immediately clear you’re required to have a good time.

Carlos'n Charlie's

Cash or credit card.

Make sure to stroll out onto the restaurant’s patio, where more amusement awaits. Related: Carlos’n Charlie’s recently got a new DJ booth outside, which should amp up the party even more. Fair warning.

Carlos'n Charlie's

Photo ops galore, obviously.

Carlos’n Charlie’s is full of surprises. For example (spoiler alert!), the quarter pictured below. Just a quarter, right? Not at Carlos’n Charlie’s. Trying to pick this one up will result in not only a hernia, but also a certain amount of public humiliation. It’s permanently affixed to the floor.

Carlos'n Charlie's

This blog would never fall for a prank like this, and that's the story we're sticking to.

And our final amusing thing at Carlos’n Charlie’s? A heartwarming sentiment in the restaurant’s gift shop.

Carlos'n Charlie's

Oh, like you haven't had that feeling.

Oh, and Carlos’n Charlie’s also serves food and drinks. We probably should’ve mentioned that. Stop by when you’re at Flamingo Las Vegas.

Gayot.com Nails It With Las Vegas Restaurant Honors

The good folks at Gayot.com (pronounced guy-OH) have outdone themselves once again. The popular restaurant review site has released its 2013 restaurant honors, and several Las Vegas eateries are listed as being among the nation’s best.

Among the top restaurants honored was Restaurant Guy Savoy at Caesars Palace, earning a place in Gayot’s “Top 40 Restaurants in the U.S.” list. Restaurant Guy Savoy was also recently named a Forbes Travel Guide Five Star restaurant. Check out all 40 of Gayot’s favorites.

Restaurant Guy Savoy

We'd compare Restaurant Guy Savoy to something, but that's one of the difficulties when a restaurant is incomparable.

On a marginally-related note, if this blog’s photo of Restaurant Guy Savoy looks familiar, that’s because it graces the cover of “Eating Las Vegas” (see below), a comprehensive and essential guide to dining in Las Vegas. “Eating Las Vegas” lists Restaurant Guy Savoy one of the 10 best in Las Vegas. Get the book.

Eating Las Vegas

Please try to contain your excitement in relation to this blog talking about itself all the time, thanks.

Central at Caesars Palace was named among the “Hot 40 Restaurants in the U.S.”

Of Central, Gayot says, “The restaurant is located in prime real estate…a lively atmosphere prevails with opportunities for people-watching available in the bar, with a view of the lobby and an outdoor patio area overlooking the entryway into Caesars.” See all 40 buzzed-about restaurants.

Central

The food at Central's even prettier.

Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris Las Vegas was included in Gayot’s “Top 10 Steakhouses in the U.S.” feature.

All the Top 10 steakhouses are here.

Today’s Thing We Wish We Had Our Mouth On

If you’re going to overindulge when you’re in Las Vegas (and you are, aren’t you?), we’ve got a great way to do it. Dessert!

Behold, the potentially life-altering Cookie Jar Sundae at Sugar Factory American Brasserie restaurant inside Paris Las Vegas.

Sugar Factory Cookie Jar Sundae

These are a few of our favorite things. If not all of them.

This gift from the heavens features cookie dough, cookies, ice cream, cookies, warm fudge, cookies, crushed chocolate chips, and also cookies.

The best part? This amazing dish has only 14 calories!

Just a test to see if you believe everything you read on the Internet.

Las Vegas Review-Journal Reveals “Best of Las Vegas” Reader Poll Results

It’s an annual tradition. Readers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal vote on their favorite things in Sin City. The results for 2013 are here.

The “Best of Las Vegas” poll runs the gamut of Las Vegas offerings, from shows to restaurants, hotels, shopping and more. There’s no “Best Las Vegas Blog” category, but do we really even need to vote on that one? Ahem.

The list of winners is too long to share here, so we’ll just mention a few from the Caesars Entertainment realm (whose blog this is).

Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars Palace was the Review-Journal’s pick for “Best Buffet (Hotel),” and Caesars Palace also won the coveted editor’s choice for “Best Strip Hotel.”

Caesars Palace

Caesars Palace was clearly very happy about its win.

Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris Las Vegas was chosen by the editors as the city’s best steakhouse, no small feat in a town full of great ones!

Gordon Ramsay Steak

The place your taste buds have inappropriate fantasies about: Gordon Ramsay Steak.

The reader’s pick for “Best Singer” on The Strip went to Donny Osmond at Flamingo Las Vegas. The editors chose Cheaza, in “Peepshow,” at Planet Hollywood.

The runaway favorite in the “Best Bargain Show” category, Mac King at Harrah’s, prevailed again this year. It’s his 416th win in a row, roughly.

Mac King

Mac King's show never loses its sizzle!

VooDoo Lounge at Rio was named by the RJ’s editors as the “Best Place to View the City.” No brainer.

The “Bevertainers” (cocktail waitresses who also perform onstage) at Rio got the reader nod as the best in Las Vegas.

Bevertaining

A Rio bevertainer in the middle of some bevertainage.

The Rio’s Penn & Teller prevailed as the best magicians in Las Vegas, according to the newspaper’s editors.

The hunks of Chippendales, also at Rio Las Vegas, won for “Best Male Strip Show,” both according to readers and the RJ’s editors.

Chippendales

"Chippendales, keeping T-shirt makers in business since 1979."

The Chippendales guys also snagged the honor of being the best place for a bachelorette party.

Krave at Rio won for “Best Gay/Alternative Bar,” as well as “Best Place to Dance.”

Best “Showgirls/Dancers in a Show” went to “Jubilee!” at Bally’s Las Vegas. The “Best Adult Show” prize went to “Absinthe” at Caesars Palace.

The editor’s selection for “Best Italian Restaurant” was Trevi, in The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. Bonus: Trevi also serves some fairly amazing cocktails. We’ve heard. Allegedly.

Trevi

Bonus: There has never been a rainy day on the patio at Trevi restaurant.

From the expected to the sort-of-wacky, check out all the results for this year’s Las Vegas Review-Journal Best of Las Vegas poll.

Bacchanal Buffet Gets a Visit From a Pizza-Making Master, Chef Enzo Coccia

If you’re anything like this blog, you take your pizza very seriously.

In that regard, we have something in common with one of the world’s most acclaimed pizza chefs, Enzo Coccia.

Enzo Coccia

This blog's new best friend, Chef Enzo Coccia.

Chef Coccia’s restaurant in Naples (the one in Italy, not Florida), called Pizzaria La Notizia, is renowned around the world for its incredible pizza, and was even named the home of the best pizza in the known universe by Travel + Leisure.

Enzo Coccia

The way to a blog's heart is through its pizza.

The culinary team at Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars Palace is always trying to up its game, so Executive Chef Scott Green (pictured below) and his colleagues were anxious to learn from the master.

Pizza

Piatto ricco, mi ci ficco! Thus camouflaging the fact this blog knows no Italian whatsoever.

There are plans to try and integrate Chef Coccia’s techniques, including his recommendations about sauces and cheeses, into the repertoire at the Bacchanal Buffet. A buffet, by the way, that already boasts about 500 menu items.

Enzo Scott Green

Chef Coccia and Bacchanal Buffet Exec. Chef Scott Green. Italians have a saying, "Clean apron, empty stomach." Well, they should. Feel free to use that saying, Italians.

Chef Coccia (everybody calls him Chef Enzo) is intense when it comes to pizza. We especially liked his dough-stretching technique. See for yourself.

We’re going to need a little practice to perfect that. Say, 20 years or so.

Aspiring chefs from around the world flock to Chef Enzo Coccia’s restaurant to learn about traditional pizza and the history of Neapolitan cuisine.

Pizza

Some artists paint on canvas. Some on dough.

Tasting the chef’s pizzas is like boarding a plane to Italy, but without the jet lag! The wood-burning pizza oven at the Bacchanal Buffet’s Italian station (this blog’s favorite, of course) was cranked up to more than 840 degrees.

Enzo Coccia

That thing about Italians talking with their hands is not an urban myth.

Chef Enzo’s visit happily coincided with the International Pizza Expo, a trade show that takes place in Las Vegas each year.

We hope Chef Enzo’s pizzas will become a regular offering at the Bacchanal Buffet. Because 500 menu items really isn’t enough, is it? This is Las Vegas, after all.

Today’s Hook-Up: Nobu Hotel Facebook Sweepstakes

This blog loves it some free Sin City, and now you can enter to win a Nobu Hotel Caesars Palace prize package worth, conservatively speaking, “an amount this blog isn’t taking the time to determine, because we don’t love doing math, but it’s a lot.”

If you like jumping ahead, learn more about Nobu Hotel Caesars Palace, or just enter the sweepstakes, already.

Nobu Hotel

Nobu Hotel has 181 rooms, because 181 looks like "8" (a lucky number in Japan) pressed between two chopsticks. Unless we're completely making that up.

Prizes in the giveaway include round trip airfare for two to Las Vegas (April 26-28, 2013), a two-night stay at the new Nobu Hotel Caesars Palace, a $250 dining credit at Nobu Restaurant and admission to an exclusive Grand Opening party for Nobu Hotel on April 27, 2013.

It’s free to enter, so just visit the official Nobu Hotel sweepstakes page on Facebook.

Nobu Restaurant

If you win, this blog will happily take the Nobu Restaurant visit off your hands. We're thoughtful like that.

Nobu Hotel is a boutique hotel-within-a-hotel that’s a collaboration between Caesars Palace and Nobu Hospitality partners Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro (yes, that one) and Meir Teper.

Although the Nobu Hotel only recently opened, it was named one of the “Hottest New Hotels” by CNN Travel. Take a look.

Nobu cocktails

Insert gratuitous photo of a young woman serving cocktails at Nobu Restaurant here. Because we can.

Just one entry to the sweepstakes is permitted, so make sure your fingers are crossed when you enter. We also suggest entering at 8:08 a.m. or p.m., because we weren’t kidding about “8″ being a lucky number in Japan.

The giveaway ends on March 26, 2013. Good luck!

Lucky Player Clicks Heels Three Times, Wins $1.5 Million at Flamingo Las Vegas

Oh, all right, we made up the heel-clicking part, but the other part is completely true.

Gordon, a lucky player at the Margaritaville Casino inside Flamingo Las Vegas, won a whopping $1,452,799.89 playing a “Wizard of Oz” progressive slot on March 9, 2013.

Wizard

We forced the folks at the casino to send us a photo of the winning machine so we can spoon with it every night.

Not much is known about the winning video slot machine player, although it doesn’t take a CSI sleuth to conclude he was, as it’s known in casino parlance, “pretty flipping happy.”

We also know Gordon was playing on the “Oz” machine for about 15 minutes before the wizard granted his wish.

Trivia: $1.5 million will purchase 44,024 of those Margaritaville margaritas in the keepsake blender cup (see below). Not that anyone other than this blog would spend their slot jackpot this way, but we’re just saying.

Blender drink

Not your everyday brain freeze.

Get lucky at Flamingo Las Vegas. (You know what we mean.)

Las Vegas Restaurant Week Means Meals With Meaning

Las Vegas Restaurant Week is a time of unforgettable food at some of the world’s most remarkable restaurants, with proceeds from sales of special menus going to a nonprofit food bank, Three Square. What’s not to nom?

BurGR

One of the featured burgers on the special Restaurant Week menu at BurGR at Planet Hollywood.

Tons of restaurants in Las Vegas participate in Restaurant Week (March 8-15, 2013), including many in the Caesars Entertainment family of Las Vegas hotels.

Participating restaurants include: Mesa Grill, Central Michel Richard, Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill, Trevi and Palm Restaurant, Beijing Noodle No. 9 and Empress Court at Caesars Palace; Bally’s Steakhouse at Bally’s Las Vegas; Eiffel Tower Restaurant at Paris Las Vegas; Gordon Ramsay BurGR and Strip House at Planet Hollywood; KGB: Kerry’s Gourmet Burgers at Harrah’s Las Vegas and Martorano’s at Rio Las Vegas.

Mesa Grill

It's probably wise to not get between this blog and the blue corn pancake and barbequed duck at Mesa Grill inside Caesars Palace.

Each restaurant whips up special, multi-course menus just for Restaurant Week, giving guests a chance to sample some of the most succulent culinary offerings on The Strip, at a great value, while helping a worthy cause along the way.

Restaurants taking part create menus for breakfast, lunch or dinner and donate $4-6 for each meal sold. Since 2006, Three Square food bank has provided more than 1.5 million meals to those in need through the generosity of Las Vegas restaurants.

If you’ve been wanting to try some of these buzzworthy Las Vegas eateries, Restaurant Week is the perfect time to do it. Find out more about Restaurant Week in Las Vegas on the official Three Square site, and bon apetit. Or some other term that makes it seem like this blog knows French.

“Best of Foursquare” Ranks Food, Shows and Things to Do in Las Vegas

Location-based app Foursquare has shared its “Best of” rankings, and Margaritaville at Flamingo Las Vegas has been named the top American restaurant in Sin City.

Margaritaville

Check it out, then check-in on Foursquare.

Margaritaville. It's not just the food.

Also among the “Best of” stand-outs is the Eiffel Tower ride at Paris Las Vegas. Foursquare users consider this ride to the top of the tower one of the “Top Things to Do” in the city. The Garden of the Gods Pool Oasis at Caesars Palace ranked fifth in the “Great Outdoors” category.

In the “Best of Casinos” category, Caesars Palace was among the hotels which ranked highest.

The classic showgirl production Jubilee! at Bally’s Las Vegas and adult carnival Absinthe at Caesars Palace are among the highest-ranked shows in the “Performing Arts” category.

Some "What the hell?" from "Absinthe." Hint: There's a lot of it.

See all the rankings on the official Best of Foursquare, Las Vegas page, and make sure to check in using Foursquare at all your favorite Vegas hotels.

Foursquare badges are fun to collect, and Foursquare check-in offers, things like 2-for-1 drinks or other perks, are a great way to squeeze the most from your Vegas visit.

Five Ridiculously Good Cocktails at Trevi Restaurant

You’d sort of expect excellent food at an Italian restaurant, especially in Las Vegas. (Las Vegas Official Motto: “Everything in Las Vegas tastes better because we also have pole dancing.”)

But Trevi Restaurant, inside The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, does great Italian food one better by also serving up some mind-blowing signature cocktails.

Trevi restaurant

Yes, there's a fountain. It's not the Trevi fountain. Long story. Please try and stay focused. We're talking about cocktails here.

Here, then, are five libations sure to make you feel like you just tossed a coin into an Italian fountain and got lucky. So to speak.

Stealing the show, right off the bat, is the mesmerizing Pomegranate Cosmo. This Sin City-worthy temptation has Sobieski Orange vodka, fresh pomegranate juice, triple sec liqueur and fresh-squeezed lime.

Come to mamma. Or mamma mia. Whatever.

Also ridiculously good is the Capri Coral Crush, with Smirnoff Melon vodka, along with a blend of mango, guava, pineapple and passion fruit juices.

Speaking of "Capri," did you know The Quad hotel in Las Vegas was once called the Flamingo Capri? Yes, there will be a quiz.

The Italian margarita has Sauza Gold tequila, Cointreau, Amaretto and fresh lime juice. What it mostly has is the ability to help you get past pretty much any drama in your life, at least for awhile.

You can tell it's an Italian margarita because after you drink one, you'll feel like putting on a striped shirt and singing to tourists. Probably.

The Coconut Mojito is not only pleasing to the palate, but also to the eye. It contains Pearl Coconut vodka with fresh mint and lime, with splashes of soda and pineapple juice. Don’t try to replicate a “splash” at home. The cocktails at Trevi are prepared by professionals trained in the art of splashing.

Waiter, would you mind bringing over a diving board? Thanks.

Last, but in no way the least, is the Sangrini. It’s one of the best slushy drinks we’ve had in town, and while we can’t entirely remember what was in it, we’d call that a tremendous selling point.

"Peach Bellini with Valpolicella wine" seems to ring a bell.

Every signature cocktail at Trevi is more saporous than the last. And while we can’t guarantee the cocktails will suddenly make you start using big words like “saporous,” we’re pretty sure they can help you mispronounce a few.
