The Global Gaming Expo, a trade show for all things casinos and gambling, was in Las Vegas, Oct. 1-4, 2011.

Perhaps the most memorable thing about G2E (that’s what all the cool kids call it) was its impressive girth. The event features about 440 exhibitors in 250,000-square-feet of trade show space. We somehow managed to see, oh, a tenth of all that, and your brain kind of fills up after seeing a thousand slot machines and table games, even if you love the casino experience.

Our expert, three-word analysis of G2E 2011: Blinky. Lights. Pretty.

Like many trade shows, this one’s more of a business-to-business kind of deal, whereas this blog is generally more interested in a winning-real-money-in-casinos kind of deal. All the machines at G2E are powered by imaginary money. Oh, well.

It was still fun to see all the technology being devoted to casino games. Unfortunately, there are strict rules about photography on the floor of the Global Gaming Expo, so we aren’t able to provide you with photos.

Whoa, man, you totally fell for that, didn’t you? Are you kidding? This Las Vegas blog doesn’t live by society’s rules! Yay, photos!

Some of the slot machines generating buzz at G2E were games based on movies, including “Grease,” “Ghostbusters,” “Batman: The Dark Knight” and “Mission Impossible.” The new Michael Jackson slot machine was also a hot topic, as were machines inspired by board games like “Clue” and “Battleship.”

Soon to be a big studio, plot-driven motion picture.

We violated as many rules as possible to bring you this fairly useless video of the floor at Global Gaming Expo 2011. Incentive: If you wait until the end, you’ll get a few seconds of a fashion show featuring casino uniforms. And by “uniforms,” of course, we mean lingerie.

From 3-D slot machines to those with moving chairs synchronized to your game play, rest assured there are lots of surprises in store at your favorite Las Vegas casinos in the weeks and months to come.
