While there is no same sex marriage in Nevada, it is one of 13 states that offer some form of civil union or domestic partnership (pending elections and the outcome of lawsuits both Washington State and California may soon move from the list of states with civil unions to those with marriage equality). Nevada's is one of the most robust, much like New Jersey and California. To quote the Nevada statute, "Domestic partners have the same rights, protections
and benefits, and are subject to the same responsibilities, obligations and
duties under law, whether derived from statutes, administrative regulations,
court rules, government policies, common law or any other provisions or sources
of law, as are granted to and imposed upon spouses." ( NRS 122A.200.1(a))

While it is entirely unclear how these partnerships transfer from state to state, certainly Nevada residents can take advantage of these packages to solemnize their legally recognized partnerships. Residents of other states may also wish to solemnize their unions in the grand Vegas tradition even if they have to go home and do some additional paperwork on their own.
