Inside Lady Gaga’s Dressing Room (Sorta)
The multi-talented Kate Steele is such a great Lady Gaga impersonator, you may just wonder why people are so eager to fork over big bucks to see the real one.
Steele is currently appearing in “Legends in Concert” at Harrah’s Las Vegas, and her portrayal of pop phenom Lady Gaga is impressive on several levels. She has the look and costumes down, along with the make-up.
But she’s even gone so far as to perfect Lady Gaga’s voice and mannerisms, too.
Her singing is pitch-perfect, and Steele plays a mean piano. She was classically trained for a decade, but until her stint as Lady Gaga in “Legends” hadn’t really had a chance to show off her chops.
Steele was kind enough to not call security when we went into her dressing room for a candid interview. Take a look (and listen).
It’s a dramatic transformation, and audiences eat it up at Harrah’s.
Steele seems to have a genuine appreciation of the real-life Gaga’s talents, and it shows in her performance.
One of Steele’s favorite quotes is from Lady Gaga’s biography: “It’s not just about the music. It’s about the performance, the attitude, the look, it’s everything. That is where I live as an artist and that is what I want to accomplish.”
Bonus Gaga trivia: Lady Gaga’s real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta.
